Terms of Service
Last updated: June 10, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Hillside (“we,” “us”) for use of the Hillside app and website. By using Hillside, you agree to them. We’ve kept them short and plain.
What Hillside is
Hillside lets you capture household information and files it into shared, structured records you and your household can use. It is an operational record-keeping and routing tool, not a chat assistant and not professional advice of any kind.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be the age of majority where you live to create an account. You’re responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. If you invite others into your household, you’re responsible for who you give that access to and for what they can see.
Your content
You own what you put into Hillside. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to operate the service for you — including sending captures to our AI provider to sort them, as described in the Privacy Policy. We don’t claim ownership of your content and we don’t use it to train third-party models for their own purposes.
Accuracy — please read this one
Hillside uses an AI model to sort and extract information, and it can get things wrong — it can misfile, mis-read, or miscategorize a capture. Hillside shows you what it did and lets you confirm or correct it (the Needs review gate), but the responsibility to verify is yours.
Do not rely on Hillside as the sole source of truth for anything where a mistake matters — including allergies, medical or dietary needs, security or access codes, deadlines, or safety-critical information. Always verify important information independently. Hillside is provided to help you stay organized, not to be relied upon for decisions with health, safety, financial, or legal consequences.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Hillside to break the law, infringe others’ rights, store content you have no right to store, or interfere with the service’s operation or security.
Service availability
We work to keep Hillside available and your data safe, but we may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and there may be downtime. We’ll give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.
Disclaimer of warranties
Hillside is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that filing and extraction will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hillside and its operators won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50.
Termination
You can stop using Hillside and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination, your content is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; we’ll revise the date above and flag material changes in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California.
